Gallery Artists: RODGER BECHTOLD

There is something tranquil about a view to the horizon. This tranquility, the essence of what is so appealing about a drive in the country, this sense of renewal and communion, I believe, is primal and therefore, timeless.

By dividing my time between studio work and painting en plien aire, painting can be a way of sharing a portion of my life, a particular light, place and time.

These images are concerned with the expressive qualities of light captured in paint as much as they're about new ways to consider the landscape in contemporary painting.

The ordinary becomes profound and something old can be new again.
