Works on Paper: Amy Hanks

It seems to me that everything I do ends up somehow or another on canvas. Excitement in my life yields canvases with intense , brilliant colors...sadness with muted ones. Complex problems yield complex compositions and so forth.

While I paint with feeling, I believe that good art stands the test of time. Throwing paint on canvas is, in my opinion, as empty as technical mastery without heart. I’ve found that through hard work it is possible to transcend technique to make a personal statement that is strong, clear and understandable.
